Question

Hey guys! I am new to the Grad cafe forum.

I recently applied to a couple of schools in New York and now patiently waiting.

My grades are a little on the low side: 3.2 Cumulative & 3.2 CSD gpa, and a combined score of 285 on the GRE with a 4.0 in the writing section. However, I have stayed active on campus through various jobs and volunteer opportunities pertaining to the field. I also have 3 strong recommendation letters. I heard that some universities look at the big picture, rather than just the grades.

I was wondering if anyone has gotten in with similar stats and can share their experience with me/which schools they applied to?

I appreciate it!

It also depends on the size of the program and how competitive is in your field. Is it masters or a Ph.D? You should take a look into the results page under your program and university, to check profiles of accepted candidates.
