Deepali24 Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Hi! My decision letter from Stanford came in!! It said I am an alternate for the programme I applied for (International Comparative Education). Can someone help me with what it means? Thanks
iheartscience Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 (edited) "Alternate" means waitlisted. If someone who was initially offered a space declines, you are on the short list to be extended admission for that spot. (Congratulations! It's a small number of people who get named as an alternate - it means the program thinks you would be successful there and an asset to their program, even if they couldn't offer you a space in the first round of admissions.)
