Hi!

My decision letter from Stanford came in!! It said I am an alternate for the programme I applied for (International Comparative Education). Can someone help me with what it means?

Thanks

"Alternate" means waitlisted. If someone who was initially offered a space declines, you are on the short list to be extended admission for that spot. (Congratulations! It's a small number of people who get named as an alternate - it means the program thinks you would be successful there and an asset to their program, even if they couldn't offer you a space in the first round of admissions.)
