Rogue Lemon Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 I’m bewildered I haven’t received a rejection from Iowa. I understand rejections went out on Tuesday. San Francisco State said yes to an MFA in Fiction. I was hoping to leave the City and write my urban novel from a distance. Meanwhile, I’m consoling myself with a short list of dynamic writers who graduated from San Francisco State-- Anne Rice, Ernest J. Gaines (The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman), Po Bronson and Leonard Gardner (Fat City). It's a fine circle of writers to be among, and the culture here is genuinely supportive. So I guess I'll have to make my name as a writer on my own rather than be propelled by association to some Writers' Workshop in Iowa. P.S. While everyone is dealing with coronavirus social distance and quarantines, remember while Shakespeare was quarantined during the Black Plague he managed to write King Lear. Stay creative and wash your hands.
