Issue: To understand most important characteristics of a society,one must study its major cities.
In order to understand most significant characteristics of any society only studying its major cities aren’t  enough. 
If anyone want to understand the behaviours and culture of a society he/ she can't depend much on only studying It's major cities. Major cities may be important economically but they are not that much important for knowing any society. Inspite of studying major cities one must study rural areas. That's the main part of society. Rural areas actually keep alive the history, behaviour of a society. Furthermore , suppose a society that's very religious like middle east. But many people will not understand this aspect of the society by observing the major cities. Cause cities are the developed version of any society. Cities evolved a lot. With every passing year cities evolves. So no on can't actually understand the society by studying  them. Where rural areas the part of a society which keeps the culture,behaviour and morals alive.
In addition to that, People of the rural areas know about the history of the society. How the society has come to present state what it was like 10 years ago,20 years ago. When talking  to this people anyone can know the society . The people of the major cities may not know that much even of they know they will 'e too much busy  too share this things to anyone. Major cities are very busy.  Major cities are good for business, study,transportation not for knowing that society. Imagine there's a big country with say 20 million people. It's obvious that most of the people will shift to cities for work and whenever they get chance they'll migrate to another country  or citi so talking to them or studying them no one can't understand the society as they are from different society.
Another important thing to understand any society is to study the history of that society or country. History tells a lot.
Moreover, As i said earlier major cities may have many foreign  people so the people on the cities behaviour must be influenced by the foreigner. Like,todays young generation of the eastern countries they are highly influenced by the western society. That's because of the high number of western people’s are visiting that part and also communication system is far better in major cities so any one can contact with other country or society  so this will influence their behaviour.  But if someone only study the major cities then he may get some idea about the society cause there will be some sort of indication of the society people don't change fully wherever they go. They must have some sort of character from their society. But it will not be enough to completely understand the society only studying rural villages can give that.so it will not be helpful to understand that society to observe major cities.

So, understanding a society mainly depends on understanding the rural villages. Those villages will give more info about that society. Therefore, in order to understand most significant characteristics of a society only studying It's major cities aren’t enough.
