For those of you that had to apply more than once before getting accepted, I was wondering what you suggest to do to make your application better. I am currently feeling quite discouraged about not getting to go next year (I was waitlisted at two schools, but trying to plan my "plan B"). Did you work and make money? Go back to school and up your grades? Did you take another program? Did you/Were you able to contact admissions and ask what you needed to have a better application or for advice? (Even tips for applications - those who were accepted first time please reach out, I would love to hear your thoughts too)

Thank you all for your help and suggestions. Congrats to all that were accepted this year.

This happened to me! Not sure if I'm the best example, however, since my first year I only applied to one school (I couldn't move away at that time, so my options were limited). The only thing that really changed about my application was I decided to get a new job. I had been working in retail, but I got a new job as a special education instructional assistant as I was done with school at that point and wanted something more related to the field. I also worked on completing the ASHA core classes that I still needed (bio, chem, stats). You may already do this, but if you don't volunteer anywhere, my advice to you would be to find somewhere to volunteer that is relevant to the field. Find one place you can really commit to and volunteer every week. This will give you an experience that you can talk about in your apps, and it could allow you to work with people who might be able to write you a good letter of recommendation. Also, it's just nice to volunteer. :)
