Canadian Tri-Council funding questions

Hi All, 

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice or resources for applying for tri-council funding? I think the CIHR is most relevant for my research, but any advice for applying to funding would be appreciated. I haven't been accepted into a program yet, but all programs say that you have to apply to all external funding that you are eligible for including tri-council. I'm sure I can't be the only one to find this extraordinarily complicated, and I haven't found many resources online to help navigate it!
