Nicolas92 Posted August 18, 2020 Posted August 18, 2020 I am going to apply for PhD programs this fall and would like to apply for Political Science programs even though I am an economist (BA and MA in Economics plus pre-doc at an Econ Department) simply because I am passionate about the work that is done in the fields of organized crime. Am I going to be disadvantaged due to my econ background? How can I tell a convincing story in my personal statement?
jl6238 Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 Hi Nicolas, not at all! in fact there is decent amount of overlap between polisci and econ. there is a way to spin your narrative to show how your future interests (organized crime) stem from your current and past experiences. PM me if you have more questions, and I can speak more in depth 1:1!
