I am going to apply for PhD programs this fall and would like to apply for Political Science programs even though I am an economist (BA and MA in Economics plus pre-doc at an Econ Department) simply because I am passionate about the work that is done in the fields of organized crime. Am I going to be disadvantaged due to my econ background? How can I tell a convincing story in my personal statement?

Hi Nicolas,

not at all! in fact there is decent amount of overlap between polisci and econ. there is a way to spin your narrative to show how your future interests (organized crime) stem from your current and past experiences. PM me if you have more questions, and I can speak more in depth 1:1!
