hoopz Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 has anyone received acceptances via DHL or rejects via USPS? I havent received either yet, which I would have expected if the letters were sent Weds....
iulixa Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I don't understand what MIT is doing! I've seen someone received an acceptance via email, someone said something about a phone call and then some people posted both acceptances and rejections via mail. I've also heard a guy received his acceptance letter a few days ago(on Tuesday) via DHL. This is sooooo strange! Why won't they just send me my rejection by email?? This is killing me!
adaptations Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I still haven't heard a word from MIT. I really was expecting to have something in my mailbox today, but who knows what's going on...
silencio1982 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I still haven't heard a word from MIT. I really was expecting to have something in my mailbox today, but who knows what's going on... yeah- like i said in the other thread i live a 15 minute walk from MIT- i really thought i would get my rejection yesterday. but, since i don't get mail on weekends i will probably get it on monday. anyways i know MIT was my longest shot out of all the schools i applied to, so i am totally prepared to be rejected.
alegriapura Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I just got my rejection on Monday, but I live about 2,000+ miles from Cambridge. Wait list?
zephyr Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 haven't gotten a rejection letter yet, either and i'm maybe 500 miles from cambridge. though i want to hope that means a waitlist, i highly doubt they wouldn't notify people about being on a waitlist (if they even have one) by now. my understanding is they accept about 20-30 for 12-15 spots. the department is literally a perfect fit for me, but i'm not holding my breath.
alegriapura Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Just a note: true to their word, my rejection came via USPS. I don't know though if they are really sending acceptances via DHL.
zephyr Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Just a note: true to their word, my rejection came via USPS. I don't know though if they are really sending acceptances via DHL. i suspect they mailed out rejection letters last friday, explaining why everyone seemed to get them on monday. as for those of us who haven't heard anything yet, the letters probably got tied up in the mail somehow. i doubt we're waitlisted or anything along those lines, because i'm pretty sure the department would have notified us about this earlier.
silencio1982 Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 i doubt we're waitlisted or anything along those lines, because i'm pretty sure the department would have notified us about this earlier. not to raise false hopes, but in my case (and others have experienced the same) with regard to northwestern- people were accepted and rejected and i was not notified i was waitlisted... had to call to discern that info. that being said, i am sure schools usually notify their waitlistees somehow.
zephyr Posted March 6, 2008 Posted March 6, 2008 not to raise false hopes, but in my case (and others have experienced the same) with regard to northwestern- people were accepted and rejected and i was not notified i was waitlisted... had to call to discern that info. that being said, i am sure schools usually notify their waitlistees somehow. interesting...i still haven't heard yet. but i'm almost positive the department doesn't do waitlists. maybe i'm wrong and those of us who haven't heard yet are on a waitlist, but i doubt it. i just don't see why they wouldn't have contacted us by now with that info if it were the case.
ordinonuovo Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 It is taking an awful long time for the letter to reach Asia.. Anyone else not receive their white envelope?
jschnei2 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Hey, I am getting concerned about my letter, which I haven't gotten yet! It is being mailed from MIT to Central Square in Cambridge (read:ten blocks). Anyone else get rejected after the March 5 "bad day"? Or should we who have yet to hear be expecting more bad news? good luck all, J
ordinonuovo Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Anybody know who to e-mail for a status update(or to have them resend their rejection mail)? More than three weeks have passed since people started posting rejections/acceptances, but no news from here(it normally takes 2 weeks for mail to arrive from the US). Anybody else in a similar situation?
