radcradick Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 who has the best and more affordable master's of library science degree? do you know if you can do this from home, like distance education ? Where are you located? Go in-state if you can. A complete list of programs is here: http://www.ala.org/ala/educationcareers/education/accreditedprograms/directory/index.cfm There are lots of schools offering online MLS programs but not all online programs are created equal. University of Illinois, University of Washington and Rutgers all have respectable online programs -- not cheap though. Also what are your interests/ intended focus? ((archives, public libraries, academic libraries, digital libraries, informatics, medical informatics, etc, etc..)) You can't really go by rankings or what is considered "the best". You have to consider your interests/ goals-- and then you can determine which school best matches those.
emmm Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I know that the Univ of Washington has an online MLIS and is a highly-ranked school. Not sure what the tuition is, but it would be easy enough to look up.
