I'm deciding between Cornell's Biological and Biomedical Sciences program, run through the vet college, and Duke's Cell and Molecular Bio program, run through the medical school. I'm most interested in basic cellular/molecular bio research, and have identified and met with a few PIs from each school that I could see myself working with. I connected especially well with the Cornell PIs during my interviews. I just visited Ithaca and really liked the city, though I am concerned about the harsh winter and Cornell's reputation as a depressing place. I still have yet to visit Duke but I think they're under lockdown for covid right now. Anyone have an opinion about either or both of these schools/programs? I'm slightly leaning towards Cornell but I want to keep an open mind.
