Research Topic for a DBA program

Hi,

I'm starting my DBA journey but I don't seem to be able to find an interesting topic to base my research on. I know that we need to fix a problem in our work environment and provide solutions to it and by that contribute to the field but where I work can't allow me to share their information because of confidentiality  so I think I'm stuck with finding a problem somewhere else and trying to provide a solution for it. My background is IT, that's why I thought at the beginning of cloud computing. Cloud computing is a new trend but many businesses will face a problem with it when it comes to security. I did some assignments on it but the university didn't really like it. That's why I'm thinking about changing it.

I'm now thinking about centralization and decentralization debate as a research topic but I don't know what is the gap that I need to fill. I started this topic to get some ideas for a business administration topic as a research topic for a DBA. I just thought I might find some interesting ideas here or maybe problems you have seen which can be generalized and I can work to find solutions for.

 

Any comments will be appreciated. If you can direct me to somewhere else where I can ask/talk/discuss such topics I will also be really grateful.
