York MA Statement of Interest?

Hi everyone, I'm applying to the MA in sociology at York University in Toronto. I've emailed them with no luck yet so I'm asking here. Does anyone know if the instructions for the Statement of Interest is the same for the PhD and MA program? (Link here: https://sociology.gradstudies.yorku.ca/how-to-apply/ ) That would mean that we're not supposed to describe out previous research experiences (unless they directly align with our MA project), and just present a semi-proposal basically? Thankful for any insight as the deadline is approaching!
