Feel Confused after POI Interview

Before the application start, I emailed a professor to express my interests and he gave me a positive reply. About 2 weeks after I submitted my online application, the prof sent me an email to schedule a interview. The prof asked me 2 question during the interview "why phd" and "previous proj experience". The interview was just about 20 mins. After the interview, I sent an email to ask if he would recommend me to the admission committee, but no reply right now. I am just confused what is happening right now? Does this mean the prof reject me?

I wouldn't have asked them to see if you were admitted or recommended to the committee. Just be patient, only send a follow up email thanking them for their time and consideration.
