So I just received admits from Carnegie Mellon and NYU Tandon into their MS Biotechnology programs, but the deadline for CMU was just 15th Jan and I submitted on the last day, with one of my LoRs reaching a little later. I got an admit like on 27th itself, and I am over the moon. No aid or scholarships since it's a new program started in 2020, so that was a slight bummer. CMU has a MS Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Engineering program, while its a plain and simple MS Biotechnology at NYU, both have good probable outcomes into both research or industry, which is my focus, but they look very comparable.

NYU's deadline is in March, but I finished my application on Jan 15 with the rest, but got an admit today with a 7000$ per year scholarship. I'm pretty stunned at how quick these responses came because I applied to 4 colleges with November deadlines and have only received one response (rejection) from those about 2 weeks ago.

I guess my query is why and how these 2 admits came so quick? Does it mean the courses are too nascent and they're trying to lock in students ASAP to build their reputes? Would it be smart to go to courses that are less than 5yrs old? And if finances aren't a concern, which would be better between CMU and NYU? Does the scholarship from NYU being on my record help me later? Would I have better shot at industry jobs or a PhD later down the line with NYU Tandon rather than CMU? I'm just very confused.
