firehawkocean Posted September 13, 2010 Posted September 13, 2010 Hello all, I need help deciding which Graduate program/school to enroll in to become a Marriage & Family Therapist in California. A Doctorate in Psychology is not out of the question since an enterprise has offered to pay for any schooling...no matter the cost for any degree. I want to become a therapist...so a Masters or Doctorate will fulfill that. I am pretty much set on the Masters though. I am 26 with a 18 month baby and a wife. I am not currently working but will be soon. I graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor's in Business Admin. & Management with a 3.5GPA. I am in zip code 92592 and I want my school campus to be as close as possible. I don't like spending a lot of time commuting. I am thinking about Brandman Universities www.brandman.edu Master's in Psychology with emphasis in Marriage & family therapy. the campus is only about 43 minutes from my house vs other campuses being 1hr 20-1hr 45min. I would like 2 other things from a University. 1) NOT FOR PROFIT!!! 2) Private (cant stand CA state schools). Valerie Livesay Posted September 16, 2010 Posted September 16, 2010 Hello there, What a fortunate situation you are in to have your graduate degree paid for by another enterprise! Congratulations! The University of San Diego School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) meets your nonprofit/private criteria, and it also offers much more through its MFT master's degree program. The faculty is outstanding and accessible. Class sizes are small, and you get a lot of personal attention, both in and out of the classroom. The MFT has a great reputation for placing graduates, even in this challenging job market. They also offer relevant and rewarding practicum experiences. Program handbooks and a wealth of additional information can be found on their website (http://www.sandiego....family_therapy/). Good luck finding the best fit for you!
