sociology applicant 2011
Does anyone know if it is okay to submit applications with a blank section for GRE scores? I am taking the test later on but would like to get a head start on apps. Also- what are your thoughts about including unnecessary test scores? I'm applying to PhD programs but have a decent LSAT score. Should I include it?
adaptations
I think it is OK to submit apps before you take the GRE. Your scores will be added to your file before decisions are made. I wouldn't include your LSAT score unless there is specifically a space provided for additional scores, which I have only seen on one or two applications. I don't think PhD adcoms are likely to take notice of the LSAT, but I could be wrong.
blackshirt
In regards to your second question, I too got a good LSAT score and wish to show it off if at all possible (I'm applying to cultural studies type PhDs), but I'm not sending score reports anywhere; I figure that's a little over the top. I'm just typing the info into the apps that have a slot for it....I see you're applying to Yale, and that's the only app I've encountered with an "other standardized tests" slot thus far, so I'd go ahead and type in in there. lifetimestudent
My suggestion is to take the GRE as soon as possible. That way, if you need to, you can take it again. Unless your program has rolling admissions, you also should wait to submit your application. There's no reason not to get it done early but as long as you have time, why submit it now?
