TheStranger Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Hi, I'm new to this forum and I found it randomly a little bit ago. I graduated with my BFA about a year ago. I am roughly half way done with making my portfolio to apply for an MFA program. Yale is my current dream school. It has a strong art program, a strong name and good opportunities for networking. I am a figurative artist who uses oil paint. I will upload some images of my current work I plan on submitting soon. I was curious as to who here has applied to Yale and how the process was. And if you did apply, and got an interview or even got in, how was the whole experience and if you have examples of your work you submitted can I see? Thanks....I did realize I did not see a lot of figurative work here.

Yale is in the top for me....although, they seem to always be more geared toward conceptual based work. I'd also like to hear from anyone who has applied, been interviewed, etc for Yale. I really wanted to know how large the studios are?

waiter Posted October 5, 2010 Posted October 5, 2010 Equipped with a pingpong table in the crit room, there is a good chance Robert Storr will be one of the interviewers. Supposedly he is interested in your knowledge of your favorite artist's point of departure for example. Peter Haley would most likely be an interviewer as well. When you apply the students are the ones who are going over your applications as well all thought they are not sure if their input has much in the final decision of the interviewees. I can't give exact dimensions, but they're pretty big. Private rooms, about 15'x15'x12'? There's an entire 4-story building just for painting.
