Presbygeek Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 I am currently working on my applications to seminary and had a intresting fork put in my road. I have been offered the chance to be the director of a summer camp in New Hampshire. This would involve living at the camp during the year and seeing to the daily needs. It has been my dream to some day direct the camp, and here's my chance. However, I have had a horrible HORRIBLE undergraduate experience and I decided that I was going to go to a big seminary to remedy my undergrad experience. What do I do? Do I apply to the seminaries closer to the camp (Bangor Theological Seminary, Andover-Newton Theological School, Boston University) so that I can commute? Or do I apply where I had initially intended (Yale Dvinity School, Union Theological Seminary (NY))? Thoughts? opinions? help?
Sparky Posted October 7, 2010 Posted October 7, 2010 If you're looking for a 'big seminary' experience, isn't the Boston theo consortium going to be perfect? Also...do you really want to let your crappy undergrad years ruin your longtime dream? (that's not a rhetorical question; I had to ask myself a parallel question once upon a time) And is starting seminary in fall 2011 an imperative? You couldn't just run the camp for a year or so, take a few classes, then when you're ready to move on from the camp, enroll somewhere as a full-time MDiv/MTS student?
