Stapler Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 (edited) Hi guys, I'm an international student from Korea and am applying for a PhD in one of the social sciences. I got a really low GRE score (360V and 590Q), however I do think the rest of my application is a stellar (GPA 3.8, excellent LORs and statement). Also, my TOEFL score is very high and my AWA is 5.5. In any case, do you think I stand a chance applying to schools like UC San-Diego and Northwestern or should I not even bother? Cannot take the GRE again this time around. Thanks, Stapler Edited November 20, 2010 by Stapler
Bukharan Posted November 20, 2010 Posted November 20, 2010 I suggest contacting those schools and honestly asking them about this. The overall score of 950 does seem quite low - you have probably heard that some schools have cut-off at 1000. The verbal score is also normally important for social science admissions. Call and ask. Good luck!
