sidiosquiere Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 you accidentally listed an emeritus professor in your SOP? Not as the main person you to work with but as a person you are interested in working with. Will they toss out the application?

Not as the main person you to work with but as a person you are interested in working with. Will they toss out the application? nope.... don't worry about it. it means that you did the job of researching about your prospective advisors very well, and are serious about doing a particular type of research.
BadgerHopeful Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Many professors emeritus (emeriti?) are still very involved in the faculty, especially if they live close by. So I can't imagine it would be a problem since you didn't list him/her as your potential advisor.
sidiosquiere Posted December 4, 2010 Author Posted December 4, 2010 Thanks! I was freaking out, mainly because Michigan states that "emeritus faculty and faculty with courtesy appointments typically do not read files." However, the online application asked applicants to list four professors. I really only wanted three. I should've wrote down "N/A." Oh, well. I was afraid that it will look as if I didn't do my homework. In fact, after looking at the faculty list more, I realized that there is a professor who I should've listed in my SOP and application but didn't. Sigh ..........
BadgerHopeful Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Don't stress over it. Everyone - and I mean everyone - has something they wish they had changed/edited before they sent in their applications. sidiosquiere and Bukharan 2
