01010101010101101010101010 Posted December 11, 2010 Posted December 11, 2010 It's recently come to my attention that my artist statement is weak to say the least. I don't like this, so I'm asking you folks for some assistance. I'm posting my blog where you can find my statement on the left bar: http://waynemarcelli.blogspot.com/ You can ignore the non-figurative paintings on the page; those were mostly just for fun and will not be included in my portfolio. My paintings have a lot to do with relationships, anxiety and fear, though I had such a hard time working that into a statement that I abandoned it altogether. This is what I've come up with, at least the start of it, and by all means feel free to criticize, comment, rewrite or destroy: "This body of work attempts to discard preexisting molds and embrace the unpredictable, dynamic nature of human relationships. The notion that personal relationships are expected to conform to a specific design is not only completely unrealistic, but damages emotional connections between individuals for failure to meet nonsensical standards." I realize it's got leagues to go, but what do you think? Thanks in advance people.
