I don't know if this has been posted here before, but I thought it was a nifty little tool, regardless of how flawed it may be:

The link has been posted here before but not the article - that was an interesting read in how he justified his methods. As you say, it's not particularly useful in terms of predicting whether or not you would get in to a particular school, but it's good for finding schools to consider applying to that you might not have come across otherwise.
