I'mthinking to do a research to Online Social Networks and look at the strong andweak ties in the networks but i still have some questions and hope someone canhelp me with that.

The firstquestion is; why should i research social networks like Facebook and Linkedinand the impact / benifits / problems of strong and weak ties?

I have thisquestion cause a lot of people wrote that strong ties are good for personalbenifits and weak ties for strategic information sharing. But i have never seenpapers that there is an end of the benifits (turning point)

Forexample; i think that strong ties are good in same networks but when thenetwork get more connections then the ties in the network will be weaker. Wherethe person first started with a strong tie network it will be more weaker whennew peoples are invited.

Also ithink that the benifits will be positive in the first place; the network getsmore strong and weak ties, so there is a good information sharing for both(personal information and strategic information). BUT; Finally i think therewill be a turning point. This mean that there come too many users in thenetwork and all ties will be weaker. So also all the information will be lessimportend.

Ok, tillthis point everything is clear for me but now the real problem: how can iresearch this theory on Social networks like Facebook or Linkedin? (forexample; when i will research the impact of information or knowledge sharing, how can i research this on a network like Linkedin?) What kind of topics do ihave to include in my survey, what is importend? And most of all, how can isetup a reseach to a problem like this?

I have thisquestion because; why should someone be interested in a research like this?Weak ties should be good for strategic information and strong for personal, butwhat is NEW and INTERESTING about this theory when the analyse shows out i'mcorrect?

hope someone can help me with my questions.

Thanks
