"Although sound moral judgment is an important characteristic of an effective leader, it is not as important as a leader’s ability to maintain the respect of his or her peers."

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

A leader is more effective if they have sound moral judgment than maintaining the respect of his or her peers. Having sound moral judgement will cause the leader to do great things for the people. They will have great ideas to improve the flaws from the system. A leader who has sound moral judgement will do what is right and this will be more beneficial as there will be less injustice. Primarily being a leader who has sound moral judgment is much more effective because they are not going to follow the crowd. They will do things according to what they believe to be right. This will not make the person a puppet to do things that would please everyone. By not following the crowd it causes them to do great things for the people. An example is the Salvadorian president. He is a great example of that because to derease gang violence he decided to punish all the gang members in the harshes way. Most people thought that was inhumane things to do because they were not getting the necessities they needed. They might have not agreed with what he did, but he was able to decrease crime by a lot and this now people are walking the streets peacefully. Another great example is the people who were helping the Jews during the holocaust. This demonstrates that by those people going against the Nazis they were able to save more lives. By them having the courage and the ability to do what is right it caused a lot of people to be saved. Not only that, but it shows that injustice can be erredicated if there is a person who is willing to do what is right even if others do not agree. It helped to make the situation much better and caused others to want to help them. Lastly, another example of a great leader is a doctor who exposed what they were doing to the psychiatric patients. This took courage to do because his colleagues were not happy with that decision and they were saying that he was stupid for letting the public know. In reality he was being more effective by exposing the expereiments that were being done on them was causing more harm. If he would have wanted to earn his colleagues respect he would not have cause the patients have the rights that they deserved. Overall, it is important to have sound moral judgment as this will imporve the sitaution much better. Not only that, but will cause there to be a better change.
