I'm reaching out for some guidance and advice regarding my pursuit of a Master's degree in Marketing in the United States. I recently moved to America from Vietnam about a month ago and am eager to further my education in this field.
Background: I'm 23 years old and hold a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from Vietnam, but my GPA is relatively low at around 2.7. However, I have accumulated some practical experience in the field. Since 2020, I started as a digital marketing intern and then progressed to a creative copywriter role in global agencies like Dentsu Creative and Publicis Groupe. During this time, I've had the opportunity to work with major FMCG brands such as Nestle, Abbott, Budweiser, etc. My career goal is to become a brand manager in a large corporation, primarily to learn and grow from their expertise and practices.
Concerns and Questions: With my background, I'm unsure about my chances of being admitted to a good graduate program in marketing. My work experience is solid, but I'm worried that my low GPA might be a significant hurdle.
I'm currently considering schools in Massachusetts since my family is based here, which would help me save on rent and living expenses. However, I'm also aware that Massachusetts has many expensive schools. Should I consider studying in another state? Are there any specific schools or programs you would recommend that would suit my profile, especially considering my financial constraints and career aspirations?
Any advice on how to strengthen my application, or insight into programs that are known to value professional experience highly would be greatly appreciated.Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions!
