CNDSoc Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 Not sure if they made all the calls. I know I was rejected because my advisor personally emailed me. Sorry to hear that, Bonkers
meemee327 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 No word yet from Columbia. Is this a bad sign?
Bonkers Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 No word yet from Columbia. Is this a bad sign? If you have not heard from them it does not mean you have been rejected. I know I have been rejected because of a personal email from my advisor at Columbia.
barilicious Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Hi Bar, Any more information from UT-Austin? Did they let you know how many acceptance letters they sent out or the expected incoming cohort? Thanks No word on how many acceptances letters they sent or the expected incoming cohort. I got an acceptance e-mail from the graduate program coordinator on the 14th, then an e-mail about a week later from one of the people I listed that I wanted to work with, and then an e-mail last week from the coordinator again about the recruitment event in march. All have been pretty generic e-mails, so no clue on any personal details. Sorry!!

I have just been invited for a visit day to Notre Dame before they make any admittance decisions, and am not entirely sure as to what I should expect because they did not indicate that it would be a formal interview. Any advice would certainly be appreciated!

On a happier note, I started a new role with my old employer and I'm enjoying it much more, so there might be hope for me in the private sector Edited February 4, 2011 by sararuwani

frenchfries Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Wow. I had no idea that schools contacted applicants so early. I thought everything happened in late February through March 15th. I applied to UC-Berkeley, NYU, CUNY Graduate Center, and Yale. Anyone know anything about those schools?

Hey frenchfries Well Yale and NYU are usually among the later to notify as they had later deadlines to apply- I think we can expect to hear around Feb 20th give or take a few days. Berkeley I guess is any time now as two people seem to have posted acceptances on the results thread - we don't know if they are real or not but if they are all is not lost as Berkeley every year notify over a period of about a week instead of all on a single day so here's hoping No idea about CUNY but hope the rest helps! I also know what you mean- until I found this site last week I wasn't expecting to hear til the end of Feb/early March- since then I have barely left the results ticker- not sure if this a good or bad thing for my mental health!!

Thanks, Decaf. I kind of am tempted to start checking my online applications regularly, but don't you think they'll send an email when they update anything? Checking the apps online regularly might just make me more anxious. Good luck to everyone!
