mhp-slp Posted March 27 Posted March 27 For those who got into Dalhousie for 2025 intake, what was your subGPA on a 4.0 scale, and what sorts of things did you mention on your statement of intent? Is anyone here doing a thesis?

slpppbc Posted March 27 Posted March 27 (edited) Has anyone heard from UofA today? Edited March 27 by Linguisticsgirlyyy
Jules_SLP Posted March 28 Posted March 28 (edited) Hi. I am only in second year undergrad but thinking ahead to prepare for applying to SLP programs. For the Academic Letters of Reference I understand that they want someone that can speak to your academic abilities. Would this include a professor that you did research work for but did not take a course with. I would think this is ok because research work is academic. However, I thought I once heard or read that reference needs to be someone that you took a uni course with. The UofT website just says that it needs to be a full-time faculty member. Certain schools, like UBC, consider lab professors that you work for as a separate type of reference ( I can’t remember the title). Academic professors typically only give you a reference if you get an A- or higher. Be annoying and go to office hours as much as possible and ask questions so that they remember you and you form a relationship! Jules_SLP 1

So a professor who supervised you in a research setting does not fall under someone who can be your academic reference. Academic references need to be someone who taught you in a class, no other environments such as at a research lab. Jules_SLP 1

HannahjSLP Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I hope everyone's hanging in there with decisions coming soon! I'm wondering if anyone has asked/confirmed that Ontario offers will be coming out April 1? I imagine they can't be rolling offers since they said decisions have to be in by April 15th but want to confirm
