I was able to send it to ORPAS. Their address can be found on their website ("ORPAS application guide" page, scroll to "contact information" then expand the "ORPAS" tab) Ok thank you! I checked the address I sent to and its the same one for OUAC and ORPAS, its just that I had no option to include 'ORPAS' when requesting through my university. I will probably call to make sure. If you don't mind sharing, what university did you send it from? Edited January 17 by ciara92

I think calling would be a good idea, it would be good to confirm that your transcript will be received by the right department!
drlinguist Posted January 22 Posted January 22 And now the waiting begins (for some programs at least). What parts of your applications are you super confident and not confident about? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2020: McMaster | Western | UofT (got into UofT's MA Linguistics program though) | McGill | Uottawa (could not attend due to personal reasons) 2024: McGill Accepted | Waitlisted | Rejected | Interview

I kept thinking i couldve added more or been more specific but its so hard to keep in within 3000 characters

Like you have to weigh how to present the best parts of you and your experience/work without overdoing it. Character limits are harder than word limits imo I'm most worried about my Casper. Writing portion was good, video response portion was a little rough 😅 My anxiety brain is telling me that that'll be detrimental to my app but we'll see ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2020: McMaster | Western | UofT (got into UofT's MA Linguistics program though) | McGill | Uottawa (could not attend due to personal reasons) 2024: McGill Accepted | Waitlisted | Rejected | Interview Edited January 22 by drlinguist
FutureSLP_hopefully Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Hi all, For UofA the deadline falls on a Saturday, has anyone asked if this pushes the deadline forwards or back? I know some institutions say something like "if this falls on a weekend, the deadline is the next closest business day".

Wow really? I guess that's encouraging but it also depends on how many people apply and what everyone else's applications look like

They responded to me pretty quick and are super nice!

LaurSLP Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Can anyone explain how subgpa is calculated when summer school courses were taken?
kt_tje Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Has anyone heard from the UofA if everything is going to be due on the 1st or the next business day?
TLA Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I am still waiting on one of my academic references to submit their letter and write their appraisal and the deadline is tonight at 11:59pm. I am feeling worried that they won't submit on time. I emailed my reference two weeks ago to let them know the link was sent out, and again on Monday to confirm they received the link and remind them of the deadline. They responded that they'd received everything and would submit it within the week. This morning I also sent a friendly reminder that today is the due date. I'm not sure what else I should do. Do I just wait for the end of the day and hope it gets submitted? Should I contact the department and ask about next steps if it does not get submitted? I took all of my schooling over the past 5 years online, so it was difficult enough to get academic references considering I haven't met any of my instructors in-person, so I really don't have anyone else I could ask as a last minute favour. Has anyone else had to deal with this situation? What would you do? Advice would be much appreciated. Good luck to everyone as you wait for decisions/finish up your applications!
dawnoo24 Posted February 1 Posted February 1 I'm sorry to hear about your concerns with reference submissions. If this is for UofA, I had a similar problem (the reference link was sent a month in advance, 3 days before the deadline, no responses to my several reminder emails, so I wasn't even sure if they'd gotten the link). I requested the link be sent again, and in the academic advisor's response, they specified that the "absolute deadline" for references is Feb 1st, 11:59pm, and that they would not receive documents afterwards. I'm not sure if you'll get a different response if you explain your circumstances, but that was what I was told. I hope your reference comes through!

It is for U of A. I also really hope she is just a bit behind on things but does submit it today. Did your reference eventually submit?

Thankfully they did eventually submit, but at the time I was worried I would have to call them if it got any closer to the deadline. Other than that, I couldn't think of any back-up plans, so I really empathize with your situation.
Speechie_slp Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) If y’all don’t mind sharing, what’s your stats? I have a 3.67 average on a 4.3 scale for my last 2 years. anyone know people that have gotten in with my stats or lower? Edited February 1 by Speechie_slp

Hopefully it just works out for me too because I also don't have any back-up plans, I don't even have a phone number for this person, and considering it's Saturday I don't think they'd respond to their office phone anyhow. I am still good friends with an SLP who once was my field placement supervisor, so she did technically grade me, but I don't think that's nearly close enough to count as an academic reference. Just crossing my fingers now that my current reference does respond.

Does anyone know that if they try to submit it late that U of A will still accept it? or would the application be completely thrown out?

I don't think that they would accept a late letter (as far as I am aware). Whether they throw out the application or just process it despite a missing reference I'm not sure. But that is definitely what I am worried about right now! Sorry to hear you're going through this as well. It is definitely stressful.

All of my references waited until yesterday to submit so poor planning overall 😕
