garibaldi Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I've noticed through the Results website that several people get intimation of their acceptance through postal service. Isn't it the case that most such people have already been contacted via phone or email and informed about their acceptance? I would think its weird to suddenly receive a letter in your hand indicate that you have been accepted without any prior notice. Does that ever happen in some schools/programs?
newms Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Apparently it does happen for some schools. I'm concerned about this since I'm international and it might take a while for me to receive the mail. I really don't know why those that send letters can't just send an email first.
ChosenOne Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 I received a letter from the University of Chicago, then the next day I got a phone call and email from a Professor I mentioned in my personal statement.
garibaldi Posted January 28, 2011 Author Posted January 28, 2011 Ah ok, so it does happen. Thank you for replying! And yes, Newms, I agree. In this day and age, I would imagine that the most expedient thing would be to email. Maybe, like ChosenOne mentioned, after sending it by post they follow it up with a phone call...
