Northman Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Hi all Has anyone heard from Emory regarding interview invitations? bgt28 and sadturkeyleg 1 1
gagne Posted Wednesday at 06:27 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:27 PM Just noticed there are two SUNY Buffalo results posted from Jan 8th and a new UIUC notification posted as of yesterday so a little nervous about what this means for me. One is a reject for Buffalo and another is a waitlist and the UIUC is an acceptance. Can only keep my eyes peeled on my emails and hope 🤞 bgt28 1
Hchak Posted Friday at 09:56 AM Posted Friday at 09:56 AM Saw an acceptance for UW Seattle Master's. As far as the website says, they don't offer a terminal MA, plus the grad coordinator said results for the PhD wouldn't be out before mid Feb. Is there a separate MA in English apart from the MA/PhD at UW Seattle?
gagne Posted Friday at 06:52 PM Posted Friday at 06:52 PM Just saw a waitlist go up for one of my schools. No emails from anyone yet. Nervous this will be a complete shut out season even as I’ve heard from no one.
chattycoffee Posted Friday at 07:18 PM Posted Friday at 07:18 PM Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well! Has anyone heard of UMass Amherst doing interviews at all? Haven't seen anything with any results for them since ~2013, has me biting my nails LOL!
TheDigitalHumanist Posted Saturday at 08:17 PM Author Posted Saturday at 08:17 PM @chattycoffee I don't think UMass Amherst does interviews; at least, they didn't used to. I was accepted into the program in 2022. I ended up turning them down. It's a great program, though! Incredibly nice people! The stipend was just unliveable, especially with the teaching load. I just went back and looked-- I got the acceptance email on 1/21/22. If I remember correctly, they typically roll out their decisions earlier than most schools.
chattycoffee Posted Saturday at 08:36 PM Posted Saturday at 08:36 PM @TheDigitalHumanist Thank you so much for the info! I haven't seen much about their process anywhere on here, this was a huge help!
TheDigitalHumanist Posted Saturday at 08:44 PM Author Posted Saturday at 08:44 PM @chattycoffee Of course! I'm here if you want to chat about the program or have other questions. Best of luck this cycle! Sending all the positive energy your way!
Hchak Posted Sunday at 10:43 AM Posted Sunday at 10:43 AM Anyone got any response from UC Santa Cruz Literature? Their grad coordinator had told me decisions would be out this week.

Of course. First, if it's helpful, my concentration is in Rhetoric and Composition. The acceptance letter I received, mind you, this was for the 2022 cycle, said that I would get at least $23,050 per year for five years of funding. I would also get full tuition reimbursement. They also included 95% medical, vision, and dental insurance reimbursement. However, they said about $1,750 in fees would need to be paid before the start of the first semester. In exchange for the stipend, I would need to teach a 1/2 the first year and a 2/3 for the next four. I had to apply for the teaching position within the Writing Program after getting the acceptance. After two years, I would have been able to apply to teach literature courses. I hope this is helpful! Again, I loved the people in the department. The facility and students there were incredibly nice and welcoming. I turned it down due to a combination of factors, but the low stipend for five years made it impossible to say yes. As someone who lived in Boston/Cambridge for years, I was shocked to learn that the rent and overall cost of living are pretty similar in Amherst and the surrounding area as they are in the city. I can only hope that they've increased the stipend since then. Edited 3 hours ago by TheDigitalHumanist
