allthenightthru Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Waitlisted at Princeton. Does anyone have any information at all about the waitlist process - for Princeton or other schools? Is there actually a shot in hell of getting in? bgt28 1
bgt28 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Sending everyone good vibes. It's dreary in the Northeast, but what's new? @allthenightthru that's a huge accomplishment, congratulations!!! I don't have personal experience with waitlists, but I know several people who have gotten accepted off waitlists from late Feb through early April. There is more than a shot in hell, I would say. Best wishes. Xx

FWIW, I reached out to Maryland this morning and they said they're working on negotiating with their chosen candidates, but that I'm on the waitlist. Not sure if that means I'm on an actual waitlist, or if they're just holding off on sending out rejections entirely in case they need to choose other candidates. ForTheCulture 1

At least I know I am not waiting on a possible acceptance.
chattycoffee Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Just got my Yale rejection, official end of the PhD application season for me. I'm applying to some MA programs and hoping for the best there, and will most likely hop back on the PhD horse once I finish up my MA, but it's feeling real shitty right now LOL. Best of luck to everyone else this season, I'll be cheering you all on!! bgt28, gagne and abf30 2 1

UCSC still hasn’t updated their portal for folks and February’s almost over… glad to have heard from SUNY Buffalo with good news, but wondering what happened for folks who didn’t get in and if rejections came out already and their methodology of deciding.
abf30 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 Still waiting to hear back from Penn and UCR, but I did get an email from Pitt explaining that they're waiting for more info about funding before they release decisions. Pitt and Riverside are the best fit and my top choices, so I'm really crossing my fingers gagne 1
ForTheCulture Posted March 3 Posted March 3 Columbia shut out was brutal today. Hope everyone is getting some good news! bgt28 1
gagne Posted March 10 Posted March 10 UCSC FINALLY emailed and updated the portal today. March 10th. Rejection letter outlined the different possible reasons for rejection (compatibility with professors, balance of sub fields, funding).
abf30 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Rejected from UCR. Beginning to feel pretty hopeless. Wishing y'all luck and the best of news.
mh576 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Hope you feel better. The first time I applied I received many rejections and am now on two waitlists. Wishing you the best. Keep pushing forward in academia or in whatever endeavor you pursue next.
mh576 Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Has anyone with acceptances attended any recruitment events or orientations? If so, what were those like? Were they well attended? My guess is that there will be less movement on waitlists than previous years.

From what I experienced, they were happy to answer all questions and they really made a point to woo perspective students. There is interaction with current PhD students there as well.
