Just had my SMFA interview. It went okay, I think... hard to know what I might have been able to do better.

also got a rejection from Tyler printmaking this morning, which I expected.

Has anyone heard from Boston University especially for Sculpture? I am touring in a couple days and I'm hoping if I'm out of the running they'll let me know before I make the trek...

I’ve had two interviews (University of Arizona and UT Austin) and I’m also wondering what I could’ve done better. I found it hard to read the groupings of individuals during the interview

Yeah, one of my interviewers didn't really say much and there were only two, when 3 were listed on the zoom invite so it kind of threw me off. They also asked a  question that sounded more like something you'd hear in a job interview about "challenges I've overcome" but it was so broad it really stumped me for a moment. I think I sounded passionate about my work though, so hopefully that plays out in my favor!

I bet you did better than you think! Sometimes thinking you did awesome is just false confidence. Can I ask what types of questions they asked you? I have one with them on Thursday.

First time posting but thought I might as well share:

This is my first time applying--less than 2 years out from undergrad so I wasn't super optimistic but surprisingly happy with my results so far. Applied for painting for all programs (unless interdisciplinary)

SVA: Interviewed

MICA: Received interview invite this morning, scheduled for next week

Hunter: nothing yet (and based on others' posts that they've received invites I'm expecting a rejection)

Yale: nothing yet

BU: nothing yet

Pratt: nothing yet

Rutgers: nothing yet

Fingers crossed for the rest and good luck everyone!!!

They were pretty straightforward--what I've been doing and what I want to do in grad school, artists I like, how my work fits in with the contemporary conversation, and then one that felt sort of out of left field about a challenge I've overcome recently (I can't recall the exact phrasing but it involved the word "community," I thought it was weird tbh).

Hi! Wanted to share

This is my first time applying to schools, honestly this whole process has been incredibly nerve wracking, but I'm trying to stay hopeful throughout it! All my applications have been for painting, or interdisciplinary programs.

Rutgers: nothing yet

Hunter: nothing yet, but saw some other people have had an interview request so figured it might be a no

SAIC: Interviewing next week!

Yale: nothing yet

Decided not to go to the SAIC interview in person, its pretty costly and far from me. Good luck to everyone!

I have an interview with RISD this week for graphic design!!
I am super nervous, has anyone interviewed with them before? How did it go?

This is my first time applying and they are the first school to get back to me.

I am still waiting on:
Yale
Cranbrook
Cal Arts
SVA
Art Center

does Columbia send out interviews to everyone? At the same time for all disciplines?

I don't know if they send out interviews to all disciplines at the same time, but I received an interview invite from Columbia for photography on Jan 30th. I haven't heard back from anywhere else yet (Yale, Hunter, Bard).

good luck to everyone with interviews, and those still waiting!

I think it will be today as well.

I am nowhere near mentally prepared!!! Still can’t wrap my head around the idea that it could be any day now. Do they typically send out rejections and interview invites simultaneously? For some reason I thought they sent out rejections a few days later based on previous years’ threads but could definitely be getting it mixed up

what time of the day does yale send out invitations/rejections?

don't know about Yale specifically but SAIC sent them late afternoon/early evening so that could be the standard

Just got a rejection email from UW Madison, it's the first school I've heard from either way so at least glad to be knowing something!

Has anyone heard from Michigan? They were my school with the earliest application date so I'm assuming it'll be a rejection...
