I just got an email from Columbia saying that I am no longer considered if I didn’t get an interview offer…

Took a look at the previous threads on here to see if I could find out when VCU Painting contacts finalists lol.

2023 - someone interviewed mid-late February

2024 - someone got an interview on 2/13

So, I'm sort of expecting not to hear back until they send rejections, but you never know! Their photo department seemingly doesn't interview until the end of Feb/early March.

Has anyone heard back from RISD photo? Do you know if they do interviews? Also waiting to hear fro Rutgers, Columbia, and Notre Dame for Visual Arts/Studio Arts Photo concentration. If anyone has any info on whether they send out interviews please lmk!

Hi all! I would be curious to hear what people have heard from BU Painting... I had an interview and heard I am waitlisted, but that I would be contacted as soon as they have a final admission decision in several weeks. I am curious how to interpret this, especially since this was sooner than I thought I would hear anything. Does anyone have any idea of how likely it might be to get off the waitlist, or have heard news themselves from BU? Good luck to all!!

I applied to Utah State in painting and haven't heard anything. I had a really great meeting with them in September and they really liked my portfolio so it seemed really likely I'd be accepted. So thinking they haven't sent anything out yet?

Just got an interview request from UCSC!

UW Seattle just sent out their shortlist/interview requests for the New Genres program. The interview will be Feb. 28th (which is going to be awkward because I'll be AT UCSB for their campus visit trip....will just have to say I have a quick call for work I have to take...)

I had an interview with Columbia and was accepted, waiting to get back my financial aid info

Nope, also waiting and checking this forum. I just emailed them to see if they had sent out the requests as it said they were supposed to on their site today, but they could be running behind

You need to negotiate!! Ask for money, a full ride! They will negotiate, they are a for profit institution. I know because I was accepted and did the negotiations. They gave me some money, but not enough for me to feel like it was worth it and I decided not to go. I think they offered me 50% or something.

They responded:

So, still unclear but it sounds like the interview requests were sent out yesterday.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences with Columbia MFA Visual Arts(photo), Pratt MFA - Photo, Hunter, Parsons MFA - Photo or SVA? 

How do these schools compare?

From what I've heard from friends in my network, if money isn't a huge factor,  Columbia has a really strong visual arts MFA program just with how much visibility and networking you get -- a grad student there right now said that apparently they really try to get gallery people and what not to come to visit student studios, but that also means you might have less time than you expected working in the studio. Heard from a Prof who teaches Game Design at Pratt that it's not a great place to get your MFA if you have other options in NY. Hunter is probably the most affordable out of all of them.
