Hi all,

Former freak-out forum user, now an Assistant Professor and Graduate Director at Georgia Southern University!

Two of our incoming MFA students from Iran have unfortunately had their Visas rejected. Being this late in the summer, our waitlisted students have accepted other funded offers. This has left us with two Graduate Assistantships available for the upcoming year (starting fall 2025).

Georgia Southern has a 3-year MFA program. Our GAs include a full tuition waiver with an $8,000/year stipend. In your 2nd year, you have the option (after passing a successful teaching tryout) to move to a TA, offering a full tuition waiver and $9,000/year stipend in exchange for teaching foundation level classes.

I know there are always good students who, for whatever reason, didn't get picked up by a graduate program by the end of the application cycle (it happened to me the first year I applied to grad schools!). If interested, please reach out, because we're looking for good students who want to start this fall with GA funding. Email me at mhuang@georgiasouthern.edu.
