I assumed that the interview cycle was a one-time thing for most, if not all schools, since they interview more than they admit.  I also did not get an interview with Rutgers, which I am taking to mean rejection.  I assume actual rejections will follow once they've completed their selections from among the interviewed candidates.  Since I am making a lot of assumptions, I also would appreciate any feedback based on the experience of this group.  Can someone weigh in?

Do you thing it is harder for international students to get in? Does someone have experience who is international being invited for interviews/accepted. I sent applications to 4 unis and got only one interview! and then rejection. I do not know how to approach it differently maybe I should send applications to more universities. I was very sure that I would be accepted somewhere.

I'm sorry to hear that.

International student here also, and I don't know if it's harder per se to get accepted. From my experience however I have noticed that especially within interviews it is sometimes hard to articulate cultural differences. Especially when it comes to backgrounds and inspirations or at least describing it in a way where it doesn't come across as cliché. And for personally, I struggle a lot with anxiety and then on top of that there is always a language barrier in interviews to some degree which definitely tears down my confidence as well. From what I have heard from my professors it is also harder to get into grad school if your undergrad is not a related discipline (which also applies to me). But all in all it just comes down to whether or not your work fits into whatever they are looking for I think.

How many people received decisions earlier than the school’s website stated? Bc I saw one place I interviewed for, my top choice, doesn’t send out decisions for another month to a month and a half and I’m hoping that’s overestimated

I applied for illustration/drawing/painting across the board. I have an unrelated stem undergrad degree and have been working in unrelated fields for the last three years. 

It’s been such a torturous journey but I just got admitted to SVA!!

I'm assuming I'm about to face rejections, but I'm still holding out hope for these two! 

I interviewed for UTK printmaking at the end of January and was told I would hear back in 2 to 3 weeks, but I have not received an admission decision yet.

I got into SVA today! But I wanted to ask if anyone else that has been accepted heard anything about scholarships? My acceptance email didn't say anything about a scholarship so should I assume I didn't get one? Or will it come later on?

Still haven't heard anything from VCU, Michigan, or UT Knoxville so assuming rejections, at least for VCU since they've been sending out interviews/acceptances. 

UT held interviews in late January for printmaking. I interviewed, but I haven't heard anything back yet.

Don’t think they automatically consider you for scholarships. I asked about it during a call. They said they have grants that you can apply for externally I think after you’re admitted? But they seemed more project based. I think school works a bit differently because it’s for profit. Should probably ask somebody who’s attended already.

Has anyone heard from the creative writing MFA's at Arizona, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, or UTK? I've been waitlisted at UCSD and Oregon (which, out of undergrad I am pretty happy with even though I am likely to just be rejected lol. small program) but I haven't heard a peep from the other four, and am having trouble finding anyone who has. Prepping for rejections since I didn't receive any interview requests. LMK if you have any insights

Hey guys, this is my first time applying to grad schools, and I haven’t received any interview offers yet. Is it possible to get in without interviews, or did I just get rejected by all the schools? I applied to Columbia, UCLA, and Cornell painting.

I was waitlisted at UCSD without an interview! So it's still possible I think. Depends on the discipline.

Anyone hear back from UM College Park, UW Seattle or UC Riverside? I haven't heard anything from them about interviews or rejections. I was rejected from all my other schools though (UC Davis, Carnegie Mellon, Hunter, UT Austin), big bummer. Holding out hope I'll get some acceptances and funding...

Which department? I Interviewed with Tyler Fibers in January and got accepted Jan 27. I know printmaking has sent out decisions as well.

I believe UC Riverside had their interviews last week.

I got into SVA too and got my acceptance early February I think and then got a seperate email about a week later for my scholarship with all the information in it. But if you applied priority deadline you are automatically considered for scholarship so if you where chosen to receive one you should get an email automatically soon I think!
