Congrats to you too! My area is ancient! No idea who the interview might be with - I pressume John Pollini and Ann Marie Yasin; but I could also imagine having non specialists in the talk. I got an invite from DGS, forwarded by the Coordinator. BTW, what date did they schedule you for? Edited January 24 by Imphoteppie

It also didn't say who with, I'm assuming the faculty I mentioned in my SOP, but I asked for clarification in my reply email which I hope wasn't out of line. I'm on the 31st!

I did my previous study in Europe, which has a bit more hierarchy. However, from what I've gathered people in the US are more flexible, and its fine to ask for more information on the interview. I would also like to know what to prepare for. Sometimes, its a very specialized interview - where Professors ask in-depth questions about the project. Sometimes, its very bland (Why this school? Why a PhD? What are your plans?), and sometimes there can be outside specialists asking you about Art History in general, books you've read. In all cases, it takes a bit time to think about all of it - so it might not be bad to have more information. Any idea how their shortlist/decision making works?
Yikes_for_being_here Posted January 24 Posted January 24 My USC interview was scheduled on the 31st, but I have a flight for a research trip, so it will have to be rescheduled to the 30th, with Massari was really nice about.

I'm applying to terminal MA programs for Fall 2025 with a focus on Contemporary Art, specifically socially engaged practices. I'm applying to 10 programs, mostly state schools that offer full funding, with the most prestigious being Williams. Congratulations on being so far along in the process-- I'm still ironing out my general statement and beginning to try and tailor it to specific programs. Since you said you were going insane when you first started writing them, do you have any words of advice? What helped you get to the point where you felt like they were finished? It obviously depends on the school, but a lot of smaller state schools that I've been researching encourage students applying straight from undergrad. My undergraduate advisor recommended I apply to PhD programs since funding opportunities are so much more plentiful than terminal MA's. And I think institutions like the idea of funding someone who will be around for 7-8 years as opposed to just 2-3! Hello! I’m also looking into fully funded masters in art history for the next application cycle. I knew about Williams, but not the other schools you’ve mentioned. Would you mind sharing which schools in your list offer full (or a substantial amount of) funding? Thank you! Maggie Cheung 1
alexandradelaurentiis Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Has anyone applied to the Institute of Fine Arts (NYU) for their PhD in History of Art and Archaeology and, if so, has anyone heard back?
peanutttttttt Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Has anyone heard from Princeton, Columbia, or UChicago?
Yikes_for_being_here Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Getting so antsy about Yale and WashU not responding yet. 🤢 sleepymaterialculturelover 1
halfanarthistorian Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Hello! I just graduated (Fall 2024) with my BA in art history with minors in Museum studies and Italian studies. I applied to nine programs for graduate studies (Boston University, UPenn, UC Berkeley, CU Boulder, Yale, Columbia, Courtauld Institute, Rice, and CUNY). I have only heard back from Boston University (accepted) for their master's program. I am getting slightly concerned not hearing from the PhD programs I applied for asking for interviews. The waiting game is rough. Yikes_for_being_here 1

wwwwww_ Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I saw posts of UChicago results of both admitted and waitlisted on the results board, but I haven’t heard anything from them. Does this mean that I am rejected?

halfanarthistorian Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Just got my rejection from UC Boulder's master's program. Makes me feel shaky about my other applications as I was sure I would get in there.
