mshopkins Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Hi, I’m exploring options for an online MA in Art History in 2024 and came across Lindenwood University. While I’m unfamiliar with the school, I’ve read that some of their students have been accepted into reputable PhD programs in Europe and on the East Coast. The curriculum seems rigorous and includes a thesis track, which is appealing. I hold a BS from Northeastern in Public Affairs and an MA in Communication from Johns Hopkins, both well-known research institutions. However, I’m hesitant about Lindenwood’s lesser-known reputation. As a non-traditional student with a mortgage, attending an in-person program isn’t feasible for me. I’m fluent in French and German, and my goal is to curate exhibits with a focus on decolonization in the arts, particularly post-colonialism and South Asian art. While I’d like to leave the option open for a PhD, it’s not my immediate goal. In addition, I want to leverage my MA in Communication to launch a cultural communication agency and consultancy, where I can act as a cultural broker between France and the U.S., drawing on my background as a native of France. This entrepreneurial path is important to me, and I’m weighing how each degree option might support that goal. I’m also considering the online MA in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins, a program with strong academic credibility. However, it’s not an Art History degree, which aligns more closely with my interests. I’m torn between pursuing the more reputable Museum Studies degree at Johns Hopkins or the Art History degree at Lindenwood, which feels less certain. Any guidance on how to weigh these options would be greatly appreciated.
