Hey! Does anyone know if Georgetown's political theory track has sent out interviews?

According to this website's results page, interviews for Government and Political Science are out. But I can't say that those who haven't received invitations yet have been rejected.

Got it, thanks. Strange that it seems they are not releasing all at once. Maybe rejections are coming later (lol :/).

Really hoping to hear back from Brown and UMN within the next few days, though I didn't get an interview offer from Brown... I also wish UWI-Madison would give me my probable rejection already lol but it seems that they take a while after acceptances to send them out.

lol yeah, not sure why it’s standard practice to not send out rejections until weeks later, especially if you release decisions earlier than most other schools do. maybe there’s a good reason

I would also love to hear back from any school today or in the next few days. I'm really surprised that GWU hasn't sent any notifications yet.

GWU hasn’t indeed released any decisions yet, this was confirmed by the department when I contacted them about an application system error

Does anyone have insight on how to prepare for an interview? I hadn't originally expected that interviews would be part of this process, but it seems like maybe they are more common than I thought. Wondering whether there are any particular types of questions I should expect etc.

RE why are rejections sent later - waitlists! Programmes like to keep open the possibility of accepting people not originally accepted for after the decisions from original admits come in.

I received an email from a faculty member inviting me to interview. I don't think anything has changed in my portal.

May I know your subfield? Has anyone heard back for the IR subfield?

Hi all, I’m confused about Trump’s ban on federal funding. I have friend actually just got his CS PhD informal offer but it was withdrew due to short of funding. Does it mean that PoliSci would be equally influenced? It seems like the ban has been rescinded but I’m not sure about it’s mechanism.

Graduate admissions this year should not be influenced by current developments on federal grant making. Regular admissions in polisci don't rely on grants to pay for grad admissions. Some STEM fields might be influenced but that's because they're more likely to use grants to hire grads to work in specific labs. Different model from polisci.

Has anyone else heard from the UCs other than UCSD and UCSB?

I was admitted to UCR last week. A colleague of mine was interviewed by UCLA a couple of weeks ago

Did anyone else apply to Johns Hopkins? I received an interview request from them, which I'm happy about, although a bit surprised as I didn't realize it was a standard part of the admissions process. Anyone in the same boat?

Hi,

I am very nervous after hearing that people were invited to interviews at Berkeley. It's my top choice and dream school. I applied for the IR / CP subfields as primary and secondary and spoke to the Professor I wanted to work with. Could someone tell me more about the Berkeley interviews or what subfield they were for?

I just received an invite to a departments preview day in March, however there was no confirmation of an official or even really an informal acceptance. I'm super stoked but I don't know what to make of this. Air travel would be very expensive for me but I also really want to go. Is it worth waiting to make an official RSVP until I hear something more official? I feel like they're bound to tell me more details before March but also I don't know. Any thoughts would be great!

Same here. Just got an invite to UCLA's "Political Science Preview Day." LMAO. Gotta love the audacity of these schools—expecting applicants to travel unfunded for an event without even an offer in hand.

Also, if they’re out here pulling stunts like this, you know the program is underfunded.

Congrats! Can I ask what subfield?
