Claiming Princeton Acceptance! IR Subfield. Just want to say to everyone who finds themselves lacking positive news and feeling frustrated—don’t lose hope! I had assumed I was rejected by UW-Madison (as implied by their silence) and was very worried and upset about being waitlisted by Brown after a fairly disastrous interview. But the results period is still long, and the process is full of randomness. The programmes that genuinely have a great fit for us will find the bright spots for us eventually! We’ve got this!

Claiming Princeton rejection (CP subfield), 0A/3R/7P. Thought the program was a good fit but guess not. I’m becoming nervous that other programs will not accept me  Congrats to those who got in!

Same, really frustrated (0A/2R/5P). Among the five pending, four universities have supposedly already sent acceptances (according to TheGradCafe). Maybe I should prepare for the rejections and improve my strategy for the next cycle ☹️

Northwestern admitted 5 students last year, and this year its already been 5. Does this mean all others are rejected? Also, aren't they accepting the IR subfield this year? If anyone could share insights, that would be great.

Contacted the professor I wanna work with at Rutgers, being told "we are indeed impressed by your application, but there are other factors to consider in the admission decisions," and I should expect the result to be released later this week or early next week. Wondering if this is a genuine wait-and-see situation or a soft rejection. If folks claiming Rutgers acceptance could post the results online, it would be helpful for me; so far I've seen one acceptance on the result page. Thanks!

Well, 5 students posted on the result board in Gradcafe. Nots sure what was the actual cohort size though.

I think I have seen that their cohort sizes are typically 5 to 10 students per year. It could be that our Northwestern dreams are over. Or it could be that we might have some more to look forward to tomorrow.

According to the PhD program statistics on their site, they admitted 19 for 2024.

The invite for the prospective student visit had a deadline of Feb 9 to RSVP, my guess is that the last acceptances have to be sent by then?

Also claiming Princeton rejection. I thought I was a good fit. I know Princeton is just that competitive, but I agree that it is frustrating.

I haven’t considered reaching out to professors I contacted, but if I don’t receive any response (neither acceptances or rejections), I think I will do it! Thanks for sharing

I didn't apply to Rutgers but based on my previous experiences; sometimes it might mean either waitlist or soft-rejection. They always state how impressed they are with the applicants' files and resumes; but at the end they either put you into waitlist or they reject your application 😞 

I hope you would receive offer from them.

By the way, is there any update about George Washington University PhD program? I couldnt see any update but it is a bit weird that they still didn't announce.

As far as I know, they admitted 19 people in 2024 and were planning to admit 14 this year, but I’m not sure if all acceptances have been sent yet. As someone mentioned earlier, we have until February 9 to RSVP for the Prospective Student Visit.

There are some posts except IR now; dont know if there are another waves of offers, maybe today?

I applied to the University of Virginia's program after strong encouragement from one of the professors there. Last week UVa started sending out acceptances, and I've been sweating since then.
