Polisci882 Posted Wednesday at 12:19 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:19 AM For Cornell applicants, I'm a 1st year PhD student in American Politics at Cornell. I received an email today from our Graduate Field Assistant that contained helpful info that I wanted to share. The email said that the department sent out its admission offers today (I still don't know for certain if waitlists or rejections have been sent out at this time), but I do believe all admission offers went out today. The department received 464 applications and admitted 18 people (6 in AP, 6 in Theory, 6 in CP). The department admitted fewer students than last year due to high yield last year & the department also did not admit anyone for IR this year. Admitted students will hear soon from the DGS and info has been sent out about the open house. It seems like this year was very very competitive -- I hope this info was helpful to people though! tiresias1871, masterpeace, nnb1 and 2 others 5

I've been lurking on this year's forum page... haha. I'm a current first-year PhD student at Cornell University in American Politics. I'm happy to answer any questions y'all may have about the Government department at Cornell Hi. Can you please tell me if professors at Cornell appreciate being contacted before applicants apply for the program? If yes, is there any way to know which professors are on the admissions committee for the year? Also, the program says the GRE is not required, but have you seen it come into play in your cohort?

i_kant_anymore Posted Wednesday at 01:48 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:48 PM Rise and shine! We live to see another day. Based on release dates next year, the next schools to release are the big names: Yale (2/20), Harvard (2/21), and Penn (2/23). So, hopefully, all results will be out by the end of the week! Wishing everyone good luck with their remaining schools, and here's to hoping that at the very least, we'll all have a decent idea of how things look soon! Omkar Poojari, nnb1 and jaliren 2 1

Heffalump27 Posted Wednesday at 03:42 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:42 PM Is no news maybe good news? I still haven't heard from 7 schools, stressing.
nnb1 Posted Wednesday at 03:50 PM Posted Wednesday at 03:50 PM In case anyone applied to UNC Chapel Hill and hasn’t received a response yet: send an email to the graduate studies coordinator! In my case, they confirmed my rejection (ouch), but they also mentioned that there’s an internal waitlist! I don’t know if anyone received a waitlist notification, but I haven’t seen anyone claiming it on GradCafe lala11 and PolSciComp 1 1

Like @jaliren said, it’s not a rejection until it’s a rejection! I received a waitlist notification yesterday for a school I was certain had rejected me. And I have 3 other schools I haven’t heard from that have sent out acceptances. There’s still hope lol I’m hoping for good news for us both! Heffalump27 and LanaFan 2

I was accepted to Oxford last year (not going there, however, because I studied there before) and can tell you that DPIR usually takes until mid-late March to release their decisions (often in groups). And they have plenty of spots available. It is a great program, which gets better every year, and a perfect city to study at, but sadly, funding is still an issue for many. But I would be hopeful regarding it! Feel free to send me a message if you have questions 🙂 Edited Wednesday at 08:13 PM by JPYSD
