Has anyone heard from UNB, Lakehead, Acadia, or Manitoba?

I applied to Manitoba but haven't heard anything yet!

Has anyone heard from OttawaU or Queens yet for interviews? :)

Hi! I had an interview with my first choice PI today at OttawaU, and they said the deadline for recommending students to the department was this Friday.

Does this mean they have to send out interview requests by Friday, or everyone has to be interviewed by Friday?
Hope your interview went well!!

Thanks! I think they meant that all interviews need to be completed by the end of the week.

Ahh okay! I’ll take that as a soft rejection. Thanks for your help!

Did they happen to give you any sort of timeline for decisions?

They mentioned 4-6 weeks, hoping for end of February.

Forgot to share that I met with my first choice PI this Monday for uOttawa.

For anyone wondering - last year I was notified that I was waitlisted on Feb 22 I think so I imagine it will be similar this year, responses will likely go out late Feb.

Congrats! And thanks for letting us know! I’ve heard that they are slightly behind this year so maybe even early March at the latest

Unfortunately Queens formal interview invites have likely gone out :(. They're being held Feb 3rd to 20th-ish I think.

I received an official invite from Western and UTSC! If anyone has any experience with formal interviews and what to expect (esp. UTSC!) I'd love to hear it. ☺️

Do you mind sharing the interview date?

I believe they have already held all their formal interviews (late Jan and Feb 4th).

Yeah I was wondering if anyone has heard about acceptances.

So uOttawa invitations already went out? Anyone else bumbed about this and like to share what their next steps are?

Last year I wasn't accepted anywhere and felt lost because I hadn't planned for a world where I wouldn't have a program to attend in the fall.

Honestly, I realize now that I would not have been completely satisfied with my potential advisor even if I had been accepted. I also got a super cool job and gained lots of clinical experience in the past year, did/doing some part-time school, and I can truly say the rejection last year was for the best. I have had an awesome post-undergrad year. Doing school part-time was helpful because it has kept me connected with my goals, the break from being a full-time student is nice too.

My thesis advisor tells me it takes the average medical student 3 tries to be accepted, and that's only for those who are accepted. For clinical psych it takes who knows how many more (we've all seen the statistics). He tells me that as long as I want it and as long as I have thick skin, to just apply apply apply and if your CV is competitive you will make it eventually.

All that is to say, I feel you. The rejection sucks but it's just the first of a potentially long journey. Don't lose hope.

I'm so sorry about this. I was rejected last year and it sucked. As I look back, it was 100% for the best. I realized it wouldn't have been a great fit, and I actually changed directions into something that was a much better fit for me, but that wouldn't have happened if I was accepted. One thing that I did that was helpful (which you don't have space to do if you're accepted) is I spent time asking myself what I deeply want, rather than what I think I should want or what formal programs offer. I wrote all of that out, even if it didn't make sense. Don't give up hope, keep moving forward, even if you don't know yet what the future would concretely look like.
