Which Master’s programs should I apply to if I’m interested in quant trader/researcher roles?

Question

Posted

Can anyone give some advice on my grad school applications? I’m an international senior student from a T30 public school with double majors in math & stats and a CS minor. I’ve had some interviews for quant trader roles but didn’t get an offer. I have no prior quant internship experience. I have a 3.9+ GPA, a 330 GRE, hardcore courses in math and statistics, and an ML paper (pure theory). I want to go through more recruiting cycles for quant trader and possibly quant researcher roles. Meanwhile, staying in the U.S. is a top priority, and I would love to pursue a PhD if I can’t get an ideal job.

I’m interested in buyside roles. My current list includes CMU MSCF, Stanford Stats MS, UChicago Stats MS, and Duke Stats MS. I’ve been accepted to the accelerated master’s in applied statistics at my college, so I’m not really considering any “safe” schools.

Are there any other programs suitable for my goal (and still accepting applications)? More specifically, should I consider UCB Stats Master, UCB MFE, Columbia Stats Master, or any other programs? (I didn’t include Princeton MFE and MIT MFE since I don’t think I have enough finance background to have a chance. Unfortunately, CMU MSML is past its deadline.)
