I’m considering applying for the SLP Master’s program at McGill, but my undergraduate background is in Engineering. Since this field is unrelated to speech therapy, would I need to take extra courses in areas like Linguistics, Psychology, or Child Development to qualify? Or could I complete my Engineering degree, maintain a high GPA, and take the required prerequisite courses listed on the admissions page to be eligible?

Theres a decent amount of prereqs needed within the areas of Psych, Linguistics, and Stats for McGill. However, theres no specific undergrad degree required to apply. So I think as long as you take the required courses, you can still apply with your eng degree! I know sometimes having a diverse background can often be a unique aspect to one's application, so as long as you have the required courses and maintain a high GPA, you should be fine! I would also recommend getting volunteer experience within SLP or related areas as this could also strengthen your application. Good luck!
