Muddypuddy40 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Greetings all, I've been reading that the federal government has been taking away funding this affecting incoming graduate students. I recently received two rejections from Johns Hopkins and UC Berkeley. After reading about what's going on with the federal government not giving financial resources to universities is this affecting potential doctoral students getting accepted?
Goodald Posted March 17 Posted March 17 It’s only my speculation, but I think so. I have heard of other universities taking in smaller cohorts this year. I have been wondering about that myself… if JHU’s acceptance rate is 17-20% of applicants in a typical year, I’m very curious to find out what their percentage is this year of accepted students.
health_app Posted March 19 Posted March 19 It is definitely affecting cohort size. I have accepted an offer at JHU's Health Economics and Policy and i was the only person they admitted this year, they usually admit 4-5. They didnt even admit anyone in the health services research concentration. I have an offer for Berkeley's Health Policy and I dont think their cohort size has changed but they did update their funding letter to say that they can rescind or reduce it at any moment (offer is 36k, which is already super low)
