patonn89 Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Im a senior at run of the mill university, I have good grades, As, Bs, some Cs, no Ds, and a 3.25cum GPA, ive spent three weeks in china, and four in Nicaragua. I just have no clue where to go for grad school, let alone even look for possibilities. Heck i don't even know what forum heading i should post this under. Please give me some wisdom of where to go, or at least where to look. Thanks!

Please give me some wisdom of where to go, or at least where to look. Thanks! Life Sciences is a good place to start. But first! You should say what your research interests are (anthropology+botany? do tell) and give people some material from which to advise you. In general, it is a good idea to look at the research of scholars that you found particularly interesting and ask yourself if you want to do something like that, or something else over here. Poke around department websites - any will do since it seems you are just testing the waters at the moment - to familiarize yourself with what's out there and how things are done in different fields/departments. If you have a career services office at your university, go see if they have any books you can check out like "What do I do with a degree in X?" or "Careers for social justice people" or whatever. Those will have suggestions for career paths other than graduate school as well; if you don't have a strong passion for something specific to study, I would not recommend applying to grad school at this time. Good luck!
clashingtime Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 If you are interested in ethnobotany, look at Texas A&M. They have lots of great labs- palynology, paleoethnobotany, and archaeological ecology. PM if you have any questions!
