lambchops511 Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 I just got the acceptance letter from CMU ECE PHD. However, the first paragraph of the letter says "This offer is subject to your receipt of support from NSERC". I however got rejected by NSERC (Canadian government grant)... what should my course of action be? Why should it even be subject to NSERC... I can self fund.... It is also with the Mobility Research Center at CMU's Silicon Valley Campus... is that good or bad? Thanks!!
lambchops511 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Looks like this is the only admit im getting... can only one comment on the CMU ECE program? Is it any good? Is it well respected outside of engineering (i.e. in the finance world?)? Is it well known internationally? i.e. In Asian countries? Any other comments on CMU would be nice to hope me decide...
CanuckBoy Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 (edited) CMU engineering is one of the best in the world. I know rankings don't show everything but it is an indication. I have family in California in ECE line of work, and there is no doubt CMU is one of the best out there in the field. I'm a Canadian looking at CMU for PhD for 2012. Competition for NSERC is mighty fierce recent years. Looks like this is the only admit im getting... can only one comment on the CMU ECE program?
