bookworm2011 Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I've applied to four school for the English MA program. Whenever I get on here, I see a few MA's in other areas that have been admitted or rejected. Either way they have their admission results. However, I'm seeing more PhD admits than anything right now. Thoughts anyone?
wtncffts Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I think MA programs generally have later application deadlines than PhD ones, partly, I guess, to try to 'catch' PhD rejects (not meant to be pejorative). Funding for MA programs is also less generous/available, and so I guess that also allows later deadlines. Probably a whole host of other reasons.
TheOtherJake Posted February 7, 2011 Posted February 7, 2011 I can't speak to most schools, but I applied to 3 Ph.D programs and 2 MA programs this year. I haven't heard anything from the Ph.D programs, but I got an acceptance to an MA very soon after, even though the deadlines were later. Of course, it could just be that school is fast in decisions.
