oranje1989 Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I was accepted by NWU for AP and Page, Druckman and three other professors e-mailed me to invite me to their department. I am going to do political communication and public opinion, and NWU seems to be a nice place to go, esp. because of Druckman who I want to work with. But I browsed some pages in the "Political Science Job Rumors" and it seems that NWU's AP has some serious problems and I don't exactly know what they are. Can anyone here offer some help? Is AP at NWU really that "disreputable"?

Another third is just whining from people who's advice you are better off not taking. JanuaryHymn 1
wtncffts Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 I don't have firsthand knowledge, but I do know that poliscijobrumors is garbage. Too much trolling and inadequately regulated. You can't really trust anything there.

balderdash Posted February 18, 2011 Posted February 18, 2011 PSJR is trash. Ignore. Northwestern is solid.

Is AP at NWU really that "disreputable"? It seems Northwestern is strongest in Comparitive and Theory, but I've not heard overtly negative things about American politics. Druckman's work was what really got me interested. I hope to do political communication and political psychology. Will you be attending the admitted students event March 3-5?

Hey, are you going to accept the offer? I am about to, just rejected by Yale! Me, too. I wanna do political communication and political psychology with Druckman and Chong. Well, I will not make the visit cuz I am not in the States. I am international, ya know.

Yes, I accepted as soon as I was notified because Northwestern was my top choice. I'm hoping to work with Druckman and Chong as well! Best of luck in your decision making.

NUMDS Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Hey...I did my undergraduate at Northwestern and know Druckman very well. He is a very nice guy and he is a well respected scholar. I think that you would fine coming out of there, given your research interests.
