Phenomenologist Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Hey guys, I'm filling out Princeton Seminary's financial aid application, and it has a field for "Projected income from field education." Does anyone know the usual protocol for PTS's "field education" units? Do they have any income? I'm going to do more research online about it, but I figured I'd throw the question out to you guys in case you already had this information. For example, I know that Duke Divinity School has a mandatory minimum of two ministry internships, but you get paid for it by the school ($7,000+ ea.). Is the "field education" like this, perhaps, or is compensation independent of the school, arranged between you and your "ministry placement"? Thanks for any insight! Phenomenologist 1

If you come to PTS you will have to do two field ed placements (most often one will be during the academic year and the other during the summer). You will be paid, although sometimes the church will pay you and at other times the seminary will pay on the church's behalf. A typical academic field ed stipend will be around $1100-1300/ semester (for about 12 hr/week of work). One tip though - you probably will not do field ed during your first year. It may help you qualify for princeton's (ample) need-based aid if you dont plan on having that income. Edited February 28, 2011 by auggie Phenomenologist 1
