hejduk Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I've been in contact on several occasions with a few POIs at schools I'm applying too (and currently waiting for results). I want to add these people to LinkedIn, as we all know how important networking is, especially in academia. I plan on staying in touch with these contacts even if I don't get accepted to the schools where they currently work. Would these seem like a bad idea to anyone? I've already sent the invites, so here's hoping not too many people say, "Yes, you're an idiot!"
Golden Monkey Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 I don't think it's ever a bad idea. I've been doing a lot of reading on this (on networking and Linkedin in particular,) and the idea I get is that it's never bad to have a connection... unless the connection makes you look bad, which would definitely not be the case here.
hejduk Posted March 5, 2011 Author Posted March 5, 2011 Two of my LinkedIn invites accepted, so apparently they're interested too. Whoo!
